Art and science come together in a mesmerizing new multimedia event this Thursday. On October 10th, head to New Orleans to view GLOW: An Illuminated Living Art Experience at the Zeitgeist Theatre.

GLOW is part of a two-month art exhibit produced by New Orleans artist and Loyola University geneticist, Hunter Cole, who is widely recognized among the innovators in the art/science genre as one of the first artists to produce significant works using bioluminescent light. The unique solo show features photographs of human figures illuminated by a glowing blue light created by bioluminescent bacteria.

On Thursday, Cole will bring her photographs to life, transforming the Zeitgeist Theatre into a live, glowing, one-of-a-kind art experience. Guests will have the opportunity to walk into the darkened theatre illuminated by never-before-seen art created with actual, living bioluminescent bacteria and interact with dancers wearing “glowing art” costumes.

While there, why not become living art yourself? During the event, Cole will photograph guests interacting with living light pieces, which will later be available for purchase as Hunter Cole originals on her website, www.huntercolephoto.com.

Hunter Cole’s art has been exhibited internationally including New York, San Francisco, Chicago, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, and the Czech Republic. Cole’s work also includes a permanent installation commissioned in 2008 by Loyola University Chicago for its Lakeshore campus. The large public art installation, entitled Biological Domains, is comprised of 14 paintings, which depict specific areas in biology. The installation incorporates LED lighting timed to create changing effects in the overall appearance of the installation throughout the day.

Witness an art experience unlike any you’ve ever seen at GLOW: An Illuminated Living Art Experience at the Zeitgeist Theatre on October 10th! The event is free and open to the public.
